Q. Can you recommend things to do and places to visit?

A. At The Sea Ranch, choose among hiking, beach combing, exploring tide pools, abalone diving, tennis, golf, horseback riding, bicycling, and swimming in any of the three pools. Venture outside of The Sea Ranch for fishing, kayaking, and wine tasting in the inland valleys. Or visit the town of Mendocino or historic Fort Ross. Gualala Arts Center hosts regular events and exhibits.


 Q. Is there cell phone service?

A. Verizon is the only cell service in our area. The house has a landline for local calls.

Q. How far is Pilot’s Reach from

the ocean?

A. One of the popular beaches at

The Sea Ranch — Pebble Beach —

is a 12-minute walk from Pilot’s

Reach. Start at the hiking path

trail head directly across the street

from the driveway.


Q. What do we bring to the house?

A. You may choose to bring your own basics, or stock up on what you need at Surf Market in Gualala:

• Foil, plastic wrap, zip lock bags

• Kleenex

• Flashlights

• Charcoal and lighter fluid

• Kindling, matches

• Coffee filters, olive oil

• Other basics


Q. Any good restaurants near-by?

A. The Two Fish Baking Company is a ten-minute walk from the house across the street from the fire station. Open Thursday - Saturday 8am - 3pm, Sunday 8am – 1:30pm. 707-785-2443

A. The Sea Ranch Lodge is a 5-minute drive from Pilot's Reach and has a full bar and restaurant. They host special events as well as brewmaster and winemaker dinners.

A. Yes! The locations closest to

Pilot’s Reach are Two Fish Baking

Company and The Sea Ranch

Lodge. Get yours early in the day

before they sell out.

Q. Where do we shop?

A. The coastal town of Gualala is

eight miles north of Pilot's Reach and has everything you need: a post office, supermarkets, gas stations, banks, restaurants, churches,

hardware stores, a medical clinic,

a pharmacy, and even a video store.

A. Heading south approximately four miles on Highway 1, Stewarts Point Store is an historic landmark and country store. Two Fish Baking Company has rebuilt the market, added soft serve ice cream, great coffee, salads, calzones sandwiches, and their famous STICKY BUNS!
